Abstract We study how management practices shape export performance using matched production-trade-management data for Chinese and American firms a randomized control trial in India. Better-managed are more likely to export, sell products destinations, earn higher revenues profits. They higher-quality at prices lower quality-adjusted prices. import wider range of inputs quality price, from advanced countries. rationalize these patterns with heterogeneous-firm model which effective improves by raising production efficiency capacity.
